Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal has a new gig. He's teamed up with former Pantera bassist Rex Brown, ex-Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy, and Kill Devil Hill guitarist Mark Zavon to form A.L.I.V.E - an all-star tribute group honoring the '70's era KISS. Brown says it stems from their involvement in the upcoming KISS tribute album, A World With Heroes.
He explains that as they worked on their songs for the charity project, they discovered they shared a passion for the band - especially their early material. As a result, they've decided to extend their collaboration - and their musical salute to KISS - beyond the record.
A.L.I.V.E. has two shows coming up later this month. They'll be performing in Hollywood on July 24th, and in Las Vegas on July 25th. The concerts will feature performances of the KISS albums "Alive" and "Alive 2," along with the band members' favorite KISS tracks.
Don Dokken, Vinny Appice, Great White's Terry Ilous, and Lita Ford are just some of the many other artists taking part in A World With Heroes. The 40-track, two-disc set celebrates the 40th anniversary of KISS, and is raising money for cancer hospice care. Additional details on the album are available at PledgeMusic.com.
