A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed a motorist in northeast Bexar County this morning, in a case which remains under investigation, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Sheriff's spokesman Paul Berry says it began with an 'altercation' between the deputy and the motorist about 5AM at North Loop 1604 and Lookout Road.

At some point in the altercation, the deputy pulled his sidearm and shot the man dead.

"We do not know at this time what led to the shooting and why it escalated from an altercation to a shooting, but that is being investigated right now," Berry told 1200 WOAI's Morgan Montalvo.

Indications from officials on the scene indicated that the deputy told officials that the victim pulled a weapon and shot at him, but Berry said that cannot be confirmed.

Live Oak  EMS pronounced the civilian dead at the scene, Berry said.

  The deputy is being questioned.
