The Texas Department of Public Safety says State Police and US Border Patrol  officers were targets of gunfire fired from Mexico into south Texas, and tangled with bad actors on three separate occasions along the border on Thursday, 1200 WOAI news reports.

A DPS statement obtained by 1200 WOAI news reveals that Texas Rangers responded to calls from the Border Patrol of 'shots fired' along the Rio Grande and found the agents hiding inside their boat.  The Rangers fired tear gas into Mexico, and the attackers dispersed.

In another incident, a DPS Tactical Marine Unit on the Rio Grande came upon a raft that was approaching the U.S. Shore.  The DPS boat moved to intercept the raft, which was carrying 1100 pounds of marijuana and the people on the raft swam back into Mexico.

The DPS says it will not release the location of the incidents for security reasons.

No charges have been filed and the DPS says none of its officers was hurt.
