YUCK!  Police suspect a stray firecracker for starting a grass fire which damaged or destroyed several hundred porta potties which were in storage at United Site Services in east Bexar County last night, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Firefighters from Converse and Gardendale were called to the scene in the 8500 block of Interstate 10 East about 10:30 Tuesday night on a report of a grass fire at the location.  United Site Service bills itself as offering 'the most modern and extensive fleet of portable restrooms nationwide.'  Company officials said some 300 porta potties were in storage at the location.

Firefighters were looking for relief as they converged on the site, laying more than 1600 feet of hose to reach the scene of the fire.

There is also a subdivision behind the porta potty location that firefighter were also concerned about making sure was protected from the fire.  Officials are still tallying the extent of the damage from the fire, but only the porta potties were damaged.  None of the homes were affected.
