A woman who was serving time on misdemeanor charges was accidentally released from the Bexar County Jail this week, Sheriff Susan Pamerleau confirms.

She says the inmate, whose name was not released, was had served her full sentence and was released on Tuesday as planned.

But Pamerleau says prior to her release, she was sentence on a separate felony conviction.

The paperwork for the felony charge did not reach the Sheriff's booking section prior to her release, which allowed the inmate to be discharged by mistake.

Pamerleau says her office learned of the mistake on Wednesday, and within two hours of identifying the error, the woman was back in custody.

Pamerleau says she remains n the jail, and will be transferred to the Texas State Prison system, to begin serving time for the felony offense.

She says several steps have been taken to make sure this doesn't happen again.
