Think about this the next time some IDIOT cuts you off in traffic.  San Antonio drivers have been ranked as among the most courteous in the country, according to a new survey by AutoVantage, a roadside assistance company.

"San Antonio drivers are the second least likely to make an obscene gesture at another driver," according to Rob DiPietro with AutoVantage.  "In Baltimore and Detroit, you are four times as likely to see another driver make that same gesture."

He says San Antonio motorists are also the fourth likely of the more than 100 cities surveyed to wave their arms and shake their fists at other motorists.

San Antonio missed out on being in the top five most courteous cities in the country for driving, DiPietro told 1200 WOAI's Berit Mason, because we are the third most likely city to see other drivers yakking on their cell phones while behind the wheel.

"We looked at a lot of different questions, including speeding, running a red light, driving faster than  you should, and talking on the cell phone," he said.

The most courteous drivers in the United States are in Portland Oregon and in Pittsburgh.  Portland was also the most courteous when the survey was last taken in 2009.

To find America's rudest drivers, just go 200 miles to the east.  Houston drivers are the least courteous in the country, followed by Atlanta and Baltimore.  In 2009, New York City was the least courteous.
