Police are looking for two men who are believed to be responsible for at least three hotel robberies overnight, three of a series of robberies of armed robberies that kept police busy all night, Newsradio 1200 WOAI reports.
Two men, one armed with a handgun, stuck up a hotel on Southeast Military about 3AM. About a half hour later, the men stuck up a Comfort Suites Hotel on I-35 on the north side. And about 90 minutes later, they hit a Holiday Inn Express on the northwest side, near Loop 410 and Ingram.
But they were far from done. They later hit a La Quinta and a Super Eight Motel on the South Side. Then they stuck up a Super Eight on I-35 near AT&T Center Parkway.
One of the men was said to be wearing gold shoes. Detectives say the robbers were 'frustrated' that they only were able to grab small amounts of cash at many of the motels they stuck up.
In other armed robberies, a man stuck up the Diamond Food Mart in the 2300 block of Vance Jackson, and made off with cash and some lottery tickets, which, of course, will be electronically voided and are worthless.
A man with a gun stuck up the Subway in the 1400 block of Austin Highway, and he got away with cash.
And, in perhaps the most interesting haul of the night, a man stuck up the Lovers Adult Accessories store in the 4800 block of Loop 410 and 10PM.
When the clerk was unable to open the cash register, the guy settled for $300 worth of what police delicately refer to as 'store merchandise'
