Time Warner Cable in San Antonio is poised to make a second attempt at putting a 24/7 cable news outlet on the cable system, a decade after a similar attempt in conjunction with Belo Broadcasting flopped, 1200 WOAI news reports.
Time Warner says the new service will premiere June 2nd on cable channels 14 and 200.
The company says it will air a 'San Antonio Minute' as part of it's half hour newscast, followed by a 'brief weather forecast and local news reports.' The bottom half hour will 'contain feature stories dedicated to the San Antonio region.'
The cable system will also air signature extended shows 'Capital Tonight' a 'nightly 30 minute political program with interviews, debates, and analysis focused on the political scene in Texas' and 'Sports Night,' which will look at high school, college, and pro sports teams.
"We are very excited to bring Time Warner Cable news and our more than 20 years of experience covering local news to San Antonio," said Bernie Han, Time Warner Cable VP of News. "We look forward to serving the community by providing our brand of award-winning hyper-local coverage of news, sports, weather, politics and much more to San Antonians."
Time Warner didn't say if any reporters or personalities will be added locally to provide the content.
