Stan Lee's Ex-Manager, Keya Morgan, Charged With Elder Abuse in Los Angeles

Premiere Of Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" - Red Carpet

The former manager for the late Stan Lee has been charged with five counts of elder abuse according to a Los Angeles court official.

A warrant for Keya Morgan's arrest was also issued on Friday after he faces charges that include false imprisonment, fraud, and forgery, all of which stemmed from an incident last summer when Lee was still alive.

A warrant for Morgan's arrest has been issued, authorities said.

The case against Morgan began last year after the City Attorney's office filed misdemeanor counts against the 43-year-old last year for falsely reporting an emergency, falsely reporting a crime as well as for a probation violation.

Court papers say law enforcement officials and officials with Adult Protective Services went to Lee's home in May 2018 to perform a "welfare check" on Lee. Morgan allegedly came to the home while Lee was being interviewed and attempted to intervene, but security guards wouldn't allow him on the property.

Morgan then proceeded to make “a false 911 call, claiming that there were three unidentified burglary suspects in his friend's home who had locked everyone out of the house."

Later that same day, Morgan called police again, this time to accuse the security guard of assaulting him and Lee with a deadly weapon, court documents state.

Morgan went on to plead no contest to the charge of making a false report of an emergency and was ordered into a diversion program for 12 months. The judge also ruled that Morgan must stay away from Lee and his residence and to refrain from calling 911 for anything other than an actual emergency.

Morgan became Lee's manager after he met him in 2017. Lawyers for Lee's estate also accused Morgan of mishandling $5 million of Lee's money.

Lee's lawyers accuse Morgan of isolating Lee from his family and other associates and moved him out of his home and into a condominium and was exerting undue influence over him.

Lee is best known for creating dozens of comic book superheroes including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man and The Hulk. The comic book legend passed away last November at the age of 95.
