Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa Crash Quincy Mumford Soundcheck To Dance

The New York Comedy Festival And The Bob Woodruff Foundation Present The 12th Annual Stand Up For Heroes Event

Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why were going through the motions of another soundcheck Friday, ahead of their concert that night at Asbury Park, NJ's legendary Stone Pony when they noticed something strange.

An unidentified couple had snuck in the venue and was slow-dancing to the music in the otherwise empty venue.

After a moment more, Mumford realized he recognized the couple: it was Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa.

Video from the afternoon show Mumford gleefully hop away from his microphone to greet Springsteen when the icon approached the stage to say hello.

Scialfa later shouted out Quincy Mumford & the Reason Why and "2 shots of tequila" via Instagram for inspiring the sweet moment with her husband of 29 years. The couple had reportedly spent the afternoon enjoying the brisk weather on the boardwalk when they decided to duck into one of their favorite haunts, The Stone Pony. Springsteen and Scialfa don't need tickets for anything in their hometown.

Mumford later explained to USA Today that the couple "said some really nice things to me about my voice" and asked him to "give them a demo" of his guitar rig.
